Thanks!

Stars are already on the SP. The code for this one is:

<img src=/message_board/images/star.gif width=12 height=12>

For others I don't know. There's somewhete a 'Site Feedback' thread.

I'm a little bit frightened; in the text it's written "many of them (brown bears) are in Sneznik forests". Is it common to meet them on hiking paths? What to do in case of an unluckily close encounter?

Thanks for this interesting page.

Hello, Ugo!

First one warm welcome to SummitPost! You will enjoy it, it's the best mountaineering site on the web. When you get familliar, start contributing - text, photos...

Are you Slovenian? Otherwise you would not name yourself Cedad. And Trinko is a Slovenian name.

Bears on Sneznik? Hm. I don't know. They say there are around 400 bears in Slovenia, and the area around Sneznik is a broad forrest. I never met one in Slovenia (but in Croatia). Also I'm allways afraid, when cycling or hiking. Basically you can't do anything. It's stronger, faster, climbs better, swims better. They say you should just stay calm and slowly draw back. Hm?

Thanks for visiting my page and voting!

Cheers!

Compliments Vid, you're as clever as Sherlock Holmes, I'm from the Slovenian community living in Italy, born in Cividale del Friuli (Cedad in Slovenian), lived for the first 2 years and half in Savogna at the foot of Mount Matajur and then in Genova where I live today. Unfortunately my parents didn't speak any more Slovenian to me in Genova and I forgot almost everything.

As you underlined, cedad is a Slovenian name which I chose as username while my family name Trinko written in Slovenian is part of my e-mail address tkugo46@....

So long

Fine :-)

And now back to your SummitPost role. In your surroundings there are so many beautiful mountains, which are still missing on SummitPost. Pick one for a start and create its page. It's so easy! Just prepare text in advance and then upload all at once. Even if you don't have enough pictures or other information. The most beautiful thing here on SummitPost is that it enables team work. I worked here in many teams with wonderful people (Gabriele Roth, Gangolf Haub, Bor Sumrada, Sasa Gospic - Velebit, Mathias Zehring and others) and it was a pure joy.

Cheers!

Very nice page! It is never too late to vote!

Actually, these days I am preparing a basic SP page on the Dinaric Alps. Therefore I have to check all the pages on that mountain chain, because of future web-lins to group and mountain pages.

workin on the page. I still have some dillemas of regrouping the mountains (I try to use geomorphological, tectonic or raditional-more or less methods, since I dont find division by the states too appropriate.). The most difficult would be to name some of the groups since they were never named traditionally. F.e. I have rather clear situaton in Croatia. Groups there should be: Velika Kapela, Velebit massif, Mala Kapela and Central Lika massif (Licko Sredogorje), Licka Pljesevica massif, Kvarner islands (Islands of the northern Adriatic), mountains of Istria etc... But f.e. in Slovenia the cluster of heights, plateu-like mountains around Trnovski gozd (+Nanos, Hrusica, Banscice), dont have traditional common name (or you know one, maybee?).

Another dillema is the fact that Sneznik and Javorniki massif (and adjoining highlands) make the same geomorphological unity with Risnjak-croatian Snijeznik group (not Gorski kotar because, Gorski kotar is a region not a mountain group - actually it stretches over 2 groups: western part of Velika Kapela and Risnjak-Snijeznik cluster). But how to name this high karsti-highlands (Sneznik-Risnjak), if we dont want the name to be too complicated or too long...

So I have such problems to solve. I would appreciate I you can give me some of your ideas or (especcially) Slovenian expreience.

Ive discussed with Sasa too about some solutions. He is right on the idea that finally I will have to name all the muntains of Dinaric Alps and make links to them, but not just because it is very difficult do determine groups in Dinarics but also because It will for sure take long time since the Group pages in Dinarics will be written.

Thanks for the understanding!! Take care.

Hi, Gord!

Thanks for visiting and voting on Sneznik page!

You have a great project, but I'm afraid that I can be of a little help or even no help at all. You're right, there's no strong reason to group mountains by states, also Julian Alps are in Italy and Slovenia, Karavanke in Slovenia and Austria etc. So, Sneznik and Risnjak are not any different. I'm not aware of any mountain group names. Also for Slovenian mountains I think that we only say Dinarsko gorstvo (or Dinaridi), and we think of the Slovenian part of it. But you can create some names (Slovenian Dinarides, for example - Sneznik excluded).

If you are willing to wait or to consult others, you can also put these dilemmas on the SP Europe forum.

Zivijo!

Yap! I was thinking of opening a topic on members´ forum, but I was afraid that I wold not attract many answers to my questions, because of lack of memers from the area.

Previously I spoke to Sasa and to Vlado - as they are the most active members that write about mountains in Dinaric Alps. They both addmit that it should be diffcult work.

Vlado was even sceptical about all group concepts on SP, overall.

But Ive foundt it very usefull and logical. By the way, by organizing groups we get order and follow the logic.

Otherwise, without organizing structure and with members´different basics and standards we would always become more or less chaotic.

Ive decided to organize belt/zones (3 of them) and groups in Dinaric Alps in somewhat general (meksi) way always based on facts as much as possible. And then, after the page lives for a while, I welcome and expect to receive usefull suggestions from all members!

Take care!

Hello Vid!

Would you mind if I use two-three of your photos that I need to represent particular Dinaric areas in Slovenia and Italy on Dinaric Alps page? (since I dont have appropriate photos).

Thanks!

Of course I don't mind! If they're on SP, just link to them without asking.

I have linked this page to an article about Slovenian bears (taken from this place) reintroduced in the Pyrenees.
http://www.summitpost.org/article/443367/pyrenee-s-bears-why-the-hell-so-much-noise-.html

I have another question, how do you make several images appear aligned horizontally ? I can't make it... :(

Re: link

Great bears page, Eric!

By the way, have you read this article?
http://www.summitpost.org/article/171361/the-legend-of-anton-tozbar-spik.html

Regarding parallel pictures. Once someone on SP gave us this code (but you must replace ( and ) brackets with the sharp ones - to get html commands):

(noformat)
(table class=inline_image_thumbs)
(tr)
(td)[img:173635:alignleft:small:Eisenhut](/td)
(td)[img:173638:alignleft:small:South views](/td)
(td)[img:173637:alignleft:small:The summit](/td)
(/tr)
(/table)
(/noformat)

Otherwise the best you can do is - see one of my pages with the 'View' -> 'Source' command.

Cheers!

Re: link

Thanks for the tip, it works.
Have you ever thought about a page about Pohorje ? This is a part of slovenian mountains not described on SP, while slovenian mountains so far are quite detailled ! ;)

Re: link

Hm, I was only a few times there, don't know it well. In a mountaineering sense it's not very attractive - up to its summits covered with woods. But very nice woods. So, a fine hiking page could be done, yes.
Cheers,
Vid

Pohorje

Unfortunately I also couldn't visit it, as we were very close in Maribor. It looks to me a very attractive area for moutain-cycling, perhaps it has its place in MBPost
