Great mountain, shame about the cafe, the railway, the litter and the crowds. Otherwise top stuff really.

Nigel LewisAlways a good day out.  Sucess!

Nigel Lewis

I've summitted 3 times, always via Crib Goch. The last time was as the finale peak to the 14 summits route which I did over a few days.
Each of the 3 occasions has been gloriously sunny with great views.

Climbed up the Crib Goch route and along ridge to the summit. Mostly whiteout, then cleared about 15 minutes after arriving at summit for nice views of the area. Decended Pyg route back to Pen Y Pass.

Can't remember the day exactly, but it was the same day the local Murdoch rag reported a young man fell 400 feet off a cornice and survived.

Fun for all the family! More routes than sheep, and that's saying something. Ascents possible even in the worst conditions. Can't say fairer than that.

Climbed Snowdon with my father about 6 years ago. I am not shure what route it was but we went via. a ridge that was very steep on both sides. Had an awsom time but was a little PO'ed when I saw that there was a train to the top. What a way to deface a mountain!

munroitisRoute Climbed: Snowdon Horseshoe including Crib Goch. Date Climbed: 20.07.97  Sucess!

munroitis

Not my first trip up Snowdon, but one of the best. We had glorious weather, a great party of five and the snowdon horeshoe route over Crib Goch. Brilliant dry warm rock.

After a couple of pints in the summit cafe we descended over Y Llewllyn to the tarns, with just enough time to take a dip. Brilliant.

munroitisRoute Climbed: From Llanberis Date Climbed: 3rd October 1993  Sucess!

munroitis

Since 1993 I have climbed this cracking hill many times. That being said the first occasion will stick in my memory. Not only was I new to hill walking, but my wife and few others who didn't venture onto the hills also came with us. After following the steam railway half way up we stopped at the hut for a welcome cuppa, then set off into the cloud towards the summit. Then out of the clag I could hear it. A one hundred year old steam engine came chugging up the 1 in 6 gradient. I'd never seen anything like it. The cloud covered summit reached and after a couple of pints in the summit cafe I said goodbye to my wife and her friends as they caught the train back down. How glad I was that I could take my time and amble back down in peace and quiet.

A brilliant day.

Took the Llanberis path up on my first attempt of Snowdon whilst it was covered in snow. I was amazed to have the summit marker all to myself! Weather forecast reported a temp of -3 with the windchill bringing it down to -15. It was the best day I have ever had on Snowdon. It's much better on the summit without the summer crowds!

My first time round the Snowdon Horseshoe, definately now one of my favourite walks. Great fun scrambling and getting the fear factor from the exposure on the knife edge. Combined with a bit of soloing, superb.

petestewartRoute Climbed: Llanberis path (it was all I had time to do!) Date Climbed: 29 august 2005  Sucess!
Did the easy route just to get the summit in the bag before heading home. It was raining quite heavily when we started with low visibility but about 10 minutes from the summit, the cloud/fog cleared and we were confronted with the wonderful views. Very enjoyable day, but very strange to walk into a cafe once at the top!
