Hello, Trina !

I got it straight with the yellow flower
I posted. Seems that I thought it was
a desert sunflower, and actually it was
Brittlebush. The desert and the life it
holds is beautiful, but I MISS the
Washington Cascades! Do you want to
change places for a couple of weeks???

I especially miss when I went snowshoeing
and nordic skiing with my friends in the
Snoqualmie Pass and Crystal Mountain areas.
I know you love the Olympics, but if you
want to see a WILD wildflower display, cross
the Narrows and drive past 'Carbonado' to
the northwest corner of Mt. Rainier NP. You
can never go wrong at Spray Park. Of
course, you will have several options to
choose from in a few short months. :)

Re: Hello, Trina !

Hi Larry!
I love the suggestion. I took a 9 year old girl and her 6 year old brother up to Mt. Rainier last Sunday and there is a whole lot of snow up there!!! No wildflowers for awhile. Yesterday I saw Trillium blooming by the roadside along the Hood Canal! I'm heading up 'somewhere' in the Olympics tomorrow!!!!! I'm excited to see what is to be seen. Take care. Trina

Re: Hello, Trina !

(One final comment.) Have you ever tried
the Hamma Hamma River Road, and then taking
the trail to Lower Lena Lake? I think it's
only three miles from the road. If you
continue around the head of the lake and
up the East Fork and thru the "Valley of
Silent Men" TO 3,000 feet in elevation,
you can always find some beautiful campsites!
No problem, Trina! Take care. - Larry :)

Re: Hello, Trina !

Yes, I have been up the Hamma Hamma and have gone through the valley of the silent men on a 12 hour round trip climb of The Brothers. Beautiful area. I haven't been up there in a couple years. Great suggestion. Take care. Trina
