Sones Pond

Sones Pond

Sones Pond high on the Allegheny Plateau along the Loyalsock Trail. The pond was named for Charles W. Sones who used it as a log pond. While relaxing next to Sones Pond with my hiking partner, we were attacked by a bee who was able to sting both myself and my friend before we stomped on him. I think the reason he attacked is because we took our lunch break directly on top of his nest, because as soon as we had killed him another bee began to buzz around us. We quickly grabbed our gear and heading to another spot along the pond shores. (August 4, 2008)
