Wonderful day of skiing from Hwy 395

Penelope and I skied to Inyo Craters from Highway 395 in February 2007. This is very scenic and beautiful loop skiing the very easy terrain over (summer) dirt roads branching from Highway 395 north of Mammoth. We were in Mammoth to have adjustments made on Pen's new AT boots and this outing served to test the work done by Mammoth Mountaineering. BTW, they do a very good boots fitting work.

the chain  Sucess!

I've hiked along there and topped several of the obsidian domes on the way. The hike up White Wing to the west is neat; the pumice-covered top still has dead trees that were burned in the eruption 600 years ago.

Beautiful and intertesting hike  Sucess!

Hiked from the Mammoth Scenic Loop through the winter forest to the parking area and further up to the two Inyo Craters. Snow was firm and crisp.
