Approach

Hike to Sawtooth Lake from the Iron Creek trailhead. Head south along the eastern banks of Sawtooth Lake on a trail for about 1/2 a mile until you reach the southern terminus of the lake.

Route Description

Once at the south end of Sawtooth Lake, look for a creek coming down Alpine Peak's west slopes. Hike up the hillside to a bench at the base of Alpine Peak. From here, hike up the steep talus slopes to the top of Alpine. We descended a bit further north without a problem, even getting in some good glissades.

Essential Gear

Mabye an ice axe in early summer... no rope is necessary though.
