Sphinx Moth Caterpillar

Sphinx Moth Caterpillar

This is the larvae of the Two-Lined Sphinx Moth munching on Dune Primroses. They like to eat both flowers and leaves of this plant. Later when these moths turn into adult forms, they pollinate the primroses. You are more likely to see the adults at dusk than during the day. Photo taken in First Creek area of Red Rocks, Nevada. April 2008.
