Hiking around "Przadki" Nature Preserve

Spinners („Przadki”) Nature Preserve is an area of 14 hectares (34 acres) situated in the village of Czarnorzeki (Korczyna commune) and 8 kilometers from the town of Krosno.
The preserve was created in 1957 and for a long time it was the best place in the South-Eastern Poland for climbing. In 1995 climbing was forbidden here for ecological reasons.
The Spinners area is made of sandstone and the rocks are over 20 metres high. Their shapes are very original due to over 55 million years of erosion. Three of them have been named after women who according to the local legend were turned into stone and others after the shapes that they resemble. Some of the names include: Przadka-Mother, Przadka-Woman, Ringleader, Small Stairs, Lover and Gorilla. All of the rock formations are surrounded by lush forests with interesting flora and fauna. The ruins of Kamieniec, a 14th century castle are also nearby.

Beautiful

Really good photos. Those areas with sandstone towers in southern Poland are amazing. I was in Rzedkowicach (I think that was the name) and another nearby area. I loved it, even if it was raining a lot :-)

Re: Beautiful

I'm glad you enjoy my album and photos. I'm surprised to hear that you are familiar with the tors in Rzedkowice. I was there a very long time ago but I remember that one of the tors was called "Wysoka" (The High One). Greetings, Henryk.
