Split Mountain

This was as close as I was going to get from the summit in 2015. Disappointing! My second attempt failed on its face. But I made it to the summit a year later, in 2016. I have one thing to share: the most beautiful view I ever saw from the top of a mountain was from Split Mountain. See my pics of Split from 2016. I will admit that this is one of the worst hikes I did: the road to the trail head is a fantastic pain, the hike to Red Lake is in direct Sun the entire day and the scramble from Red Lake to the summit is a 3 hour (one way) grueling, interminable punishment. Coming down is no fun either. After I came down to the car I said to myself that I'd never drive here and hike this mountain again. But in reality, I strongly consider doing this mountain again, just for the views. I am not really into that romantic admiration of this beautiful Earth, but the view is ecstatic.
