Split Mtn from the north

Split Mtn from the north

The north face of Split from the summit of the Thumb. Also visible are Prater and an unnamed peak on the crest (left foreground.) Zoomed in ~2.8X using a Canon IS2 (2006 Sierra Challenge Day 5: 8 Aug 06)

Some corrections

Bolton Brown is just out of view to the right. And the left is the SW Ridge of an unnamed peak on the crest. Birch is well out the picture to the left.

Thanks

Zoomed in too far to capture Bolton Brown and Birch. Hopefully either you or Bill have a wider angle view -- your traverse was incredible.

It's still a great shot

Or so i think! I'll never even get to the spot from which you took this, so thanks to you, and many others on SP, I can see some of the Highest Sierra no longer accessible to me. As a former Park ranger, I am always amazed at how few Sierra hikers/climbers etc actually know the names of the peaks they see. Then again, sometimes the view is so comprehensive, such knowledge would be incomplete at best...
