Spreading Phlox

Spreading Phlox

...mouse click to enlarge... Spreading phlox, phlox diffusa, along Hetch Hetchy Road in Yosemite National Park, May 31, 2010, Canon G10, diffusion disk. This species varies considerably in color saturation but like many species, saturation is greatest when petals first emerge from buds before sunshine bleaches. It often forms dense flat clumps that allow excellent depth of field with closeups as these. For more aesthetic captures of Sierra wildflowers, at my photography homepage: http://www.davidsenesac.com select the "Digital Camera Close-ups Page" subpage link and then any of the "Sierra Nevada Wildflowers" galleries.
