Strahlhorn 4190m at second light

Strahlhorn 4190m at second light

After an annoying pre-dawn struggle (which included a fractured rib... ) we accessed the Hohlaub Glacier and watched the Alpenglow kiss the top of our objective. 7th September 2014. See forthcoming TR "Alps International Expedition2014") for more detailed account.

You climbed

the mountain with a fractured rib? That seems extraordinary, how did it happen?

Anyway, a beautiful photo, the mountain really lives up to its name here.

Re: You climbed

Thanks Ejnar

On that glacier there was every chance of getting a fractured rib falling down a crevasse (saw one very big hole suggesting someone had). However, I simply tripped over my crampons crossing a boulder field (perhaps I should have taken them off!) - and landed on a big rock chest first (better than head) - the impact cracked a rib up under my right arm... hurt a lot - and still does!

Breathtaking!

I just can't resist sights like that...
Must have been quite a struggle for you, having to go down with a broken rib!!! Get well soon!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: Breathtaking!

It was a long hard day even without a broken rib (I didn't know at the time - but I do now!!) - and it was worst going up (because I had my stumble down at the bottom) : (
