Re: most likely lava....The whole area is of volcanic origin, os I guess it could be lava. See also this thread. It could also be obsidian some proposed. I have no clue to be honest.

Re: most likely lava....I do not think that it is obsidian. Most probably it is basalt. The cavities were formed by gas inclusions.
