Climbed as peak 4 of my "tour de County Road 300", with PT 9732B, PT 9510 and Bald Mtn M. Used a different route, with a 4WD and some clearance (stock SUV OK) you can get to the saddle on the NE side of the peak around 8200' and shorten this to about a mile round trip and about 450 vertical feet of gain. The road is on the map as County Road 300C. Nice little bouldered summit with great views of the Collegiate 14ers!
It was a warm but very breezy day. I took my hat off to avoid having it blow away and prompty walked right into a sharp, stout branch. I yelled - more out of frustration than anything. Ha! That dog thought I'd gone mad. Funny to get back to the truck and your husband sees dried blood caked in your hair. You know he's thinking: WHY on EARTH does this woman like to hike alone?
It was snowing and I was not able to climb the high peak that I had in mind. Ended up driving aimlessly around Buena Vista. Came across Sugarloaf by accident. I am glad I climbed it. A delighting little mountain.
