| First time up Suicide. I've looked at it from across the valley for years but never made it over there being always focused on Tahquitz. Decided Surprise would be a good first route. Easy approach and a great slab to crack! It was also cool to stand at the base of Valhalla and check it out. | |

| Hiked up the climber's trail then met the main summit trail at the saddle and continued to the summit. Climbed after both Sam Fink and Lily Rock earlier in the day. | |

| Nice and gradual ascent. You hardly notice the vertical. Great views. Rested, and had a snack at the nice open area at the edge, then went the extra feet for the summit register. Perfect weather. | |

| OBC was the last route I did on Suicide Rock. Starting in 1976, had big fun on the ultra-classic faces and on Insomnia, Valhalla, Flakes of Wrath, Etude, Jonny Quest, Flower, etc. On-sight free-soloed Graham Crackers in 1980. Once belayed Tony Yaniro on Paisano Overhang; he made this 12d off-width look like 5.9, and led it with only a couple of borrowed tri-cams... --Steve | |

| Climbed here often when I lived in LA in the '80s. Highly recommended. Fantastic slab climbing, but some really good crack climbs too. | |
