Summit of Stone (12,707)

Morning view towards Kings-Emmons Ridge, with Kings and South Kings Peaks on the left, and Mount Emmons the highest of the summits on the right. Tungsten Pass, Yellow BM, and Superior Lakes are the major landmarks visible in the headwaters of Yellowstone River at the base of the peaks. The summit of Stone is a surprisingly flat spot, given the terrain of split and toppled rocky towers one has to negotiate to get to it. Wilson backpack, 9/8/08 9:25 am
