wow!This is amazing stuff, Mark. I'm amazed you survived with barely a scratch! You're definitely right. Complacency is the #1 killer in the mountains, and this should keep us all vigalent from now on. I always carry radios but a whistle would be a good addition as well.

Close one........Nicely done......Very real, very scary. Next time you should be the avalanche gear for that kind of climb. Happy Trails out there.

Re: Close one........The scary thing was that avvy gear wouldn't have helped me at all in this case - my friends looked for a safe way to exit the ridge to get to me for close to an hour before they gave up and called SAR. Still, these days I always carry a beacon, but with the attitude that it's a body-recovery device, pure and simple.
