Talus field draws smiles | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
from Sp member Bob Bolton as talus hopping is always such fun. This talus field isn't too far from the summit and the view shown here is looking a bit to the northwest. This peak is in grizzly country and we did see some old scat not far from the trailhead causing us to keep our eyes open and our voices loud (just in case).

Voted 10/10 | Any relation to MOLLIES NIPPLE? Dean ... a serious question: Who's the current "authority" on the NAMES of the peaks in the NORTHERN section of Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park???
Would that be supermarmot? I have a question on ONE of the peaks that I saw in an SP-member's SUMMIT photo of Rainier. Thanks!!!(GREAT photo, Dean!)

Hasn't voted | Molybdenite is some kind of metal (I think). The one guy who seems to know all of the names of the peaks is the one and only Klenke. Try him for your answer. Bob is a natural on talus, he just loves that stuff. ; ) | | Posted Nov 2, 2007 10:12 pm |

Hasn't voted | Close, molybdenum is a metal (great for making steel alloys). Molybdenite is molybdenum sulfide, and it's the principal ore from which molybdenum is extracted. Molybdenite looks a lot like graphite: shiny-dark and rather soft. | | Posted Nov 2, 2007 11:05 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks for the input as I thought it was a metal. Of course, i believe it is the only mountain in the United States (or elsewhere) named after this metal. | | Posted Nov 2, 2007 11:30 pm |
