In order to reach the base of 6,666' Maroon Mountain, you have to hike past the south face of this humble formation. At 6,510', this formation is one of the most enchanting objects I've ever laid eyes upon - at least during this particular time of the day .. "Oh the beggar on his cornerstone, Catches pity in his wrinkled hand. But the lover, whose bird has flown, Catches nothing, only grains of sand.
