The Football Field and Pig Hill

June 18th, 2008 - The Football Field (19,500 ft) and Pig Hill (which ascends the Kahiltna Horn). The summit of Denali is just out of view to the left. Pig Hill was the big suprise of the day, with the slope reaching something just over 40 degrees in steepness. I spiked a snow picket on the Football field, but sadly no one seemed to get the joke.

It is a bit of a surprise. You almost think you're there, and then suddenly you encounter the steepest hill of the day!
