The Hotlum Glacier

The Hotlum Glacier

September 27th, 2008 - The Hotlum Glacier of Mt Shasta. The lower icefall (center, bottom) is bypassed by climbing to the right. Then traverse left between it and the middle icefall (center, center) and angle back right below the upper icefall (left, top) before exiting the glacier via any of the 3 options. The most common exit is to angle back left again to climb an ice couloir. Another exit is climbing the right headwall (which ends in the saddle in the center of the photo here), which is impassable in this photo due to the large exposed bergschrund.
