The Leaves of European Wild Ginger

The Leaves of European Wild Ginger

European Wild Ginger (Asarum europaeum) grows in the forests of all mountain ranges of Poland. The plant consists of a short stem which bears large, dark green, kidney-shaped evergreen leaves. When leaves are rubbed, this plant gives out a very peculiar smell. The flowers are purplish-green and not very showy. Photo taken in the Low Beskid on June 17, 2007.
