The Liberty Bell Group from the north (from the west slopes of Silver Star Mountain) on July 27, 1997. The road is the North Cascades Highway. Here's some trivia for you that everyone should know (well maybe not): Serial killer Ted Bundy was the first person to officially drive this highway when it opened on September 2, 1972--he being the driver for Governor Dan Evans' limo. Back in 1893 $20,000 was set aside to build a wagon road along more or less the same route as the current highway but this road never materialized.
