The major obstacle on the...

The major obstacle on the East Ridge route is Point 13,420'. To avoid elevation loss, this point should be skirted to the south (right). Don't follow the nasty use trails that go too low--stay high on nice boulders. After traversing by the first (easternmost) tower, you'll come to the head of a steep northfacing gully. Follow the path of least resistance to the green saddle in this photo. 15 July 2004.

Actually, it's skirted on the south (right side of photo).

Hey thanks--good catch. Guess I got screwed up because route photos are usually taken looking *up* the route, not down, as in this case.
