Approach

The climb starts from a saddle directly east of Yale at 12,000 ft. on the Colorado trail. It can be reached either by hiking 3.2 miles north from the Avalanche Gulch trailhead at 9300 ft. on Chaffee Co. 306 (paved) or 3.4 miles south from the Silver Creek trailhead at 9400 ft. To get to Sliver Creek, follow directions to the N. Cottonwood trailhead (for climbing Harvard and Columbia) west on Chaffee Co. 365 and stop 1.5 miles early where the CO trail crosses. The last 1.2 miles from the forest service boundary to the trailhead is rough dirt but passable by a 2WD car.

Route Description

Go 2.4 miles straight west to the summit. You will have some scrambling over rock outcroppings, but nothing difficult.

Essential Gear

Standard hiking stuff (summer).
