The peregrine falcon is recoming at the Rappenwand !

You certainly know, that the Palatinate sector is composed with more than 450 rocky formations (pink sandstone) ... Many rocks are closed to the public in a period which is established between february and july ... The reason of these rocks-closures can been explained with the fact, that the peregrine falcon is recoming in the Palatinate, for having new breedings ! The peregrine falcon is a very threaty wild-bird, so he has to be severely controled and protected ! Personnaly, I understand this law perfectly ... On the Rappenwand, the peregrine falcon was recoming in this year of 2007. The entire rock was so closed to the hiking- and climbing- publics, between begin february and begin july ! I was on the Rappenwand in december 2006, so was the rock still opened to the public ... Great luck ! I was walking near the breeding zone, but the peregrine falcon wasn't still here, the chance was so with me and my visit of the Rappenwand was a very big success ! I'm so happy to tell this for you ! Equally, apart peregrine falcons, is the Rappenwand containing remarkable and savage vegetation elements (mosses and cladonias-lichens, which are all severely protected ! ). So be cautious when you'll coming here : don't walk on those remarkable and protected vegetation, it costs a big price !
