Re: The peaks in this photo are unnamedI don't think that's excelsior. I think that's the unnamed pointy peak just south of summit lake. i believe excelsior is just hidden and out of camera in the upper left corner of this shot.

Re: The peaks in this photo are unnamedBob meant far upper left... Bob, now put the map down, you win. I'll concede that is Excelsior Peak. I was thinking it was this peak. Steeleman is correct on pointing out that the peak on the right is south of Summit Lake.

i still think the true summit of excelsior is out of photo upper left, hidden in this shot. what you think is excelsior here is actually a false summit on the north ridge just below the summit.
