| Winter 2012 Climbed this peak from Red Pass with Krista, John y Jose. Pretty much a ridge route with an instantly gratifying "Sea of Peaks" feel. A quick, fun Class 3 near the top. The drive down Titus Canyon on the way back adds to the fun! | ||

| Climbed about five years ago - details are foggy but part of our party took the roundabout way, the other half went directly up the ridge. All came down the ridge - pretty sure we concluded that it was the better route (I took the ridge both times). Really fun little peak - I agree with mountaingazelle - the route is much easier than it looks from the approach. We kept waiting to hit the 'hard' stuff but always managed to find out next step without problems. | ||

| My girlfriend and I went up the peak from Red Pass as we drove through Titus Canyon. It offered great views and put a bit of exercise into the trip down the canyon. | ||

| Saw a big herd of bighorn sheep in the valley before ascending Thimble. Calm day, traces of snow -- probably in the 50's. One class 3 move on the north ridge, no difficulites. | ||

| Climbed from Red Pass and took the direct route up the north ridge. The route is easier than it looks from far away. The drive through Titus Canyon was nice and I also liked hiking through Fall Canyon. | ||

| Concur with CP, who gave me the beta: JUST GO DIRECTLY UP THE RIDGE! Don't take the round-about way suggested in Zdon's book. In fact, the current, very clear herd path goes directly up the ridge. I saw NO herd path for the supposed way around the backside. From the GPS data, this trip is about 1.6 miles one-way; while the net elevation gain is a modest ~1100', the various ups and downs add another 700-800', so the accumulated gain may be 1900' (that's what my GPS said). In particular, there is a loss of ~330' down the last hill before the peak. This was my morning hike; then went down Titus Canyon, around to Furnace Creek, and out to Funeral Mountain for the afternoon; a day jaunt from Vegas. While Titus Canyon Road was beautiful -- worth a trip alone -- I was unprepared for the slowness of this route, and the long drive to Dante's view road for the next peak. I passed 20 cars on the TCR, ever-gracious drivers pulling aside to let me through; but the runners (about 30) and hikers up from the west end caused the biggest slow-downs. I fully appreciate those folks on foot, but I was certainly on my toes to keep from hitting them in the blinder narrow sections. Three days of antibiotics do wonders. | ||

| Short and easy, but well worth it. No sense in contouring around the summit mass to whatever weakness lies on the back side, as the final direct ridge is only class 2. Not sure why certain guidebooks tell you to avoid that final portion. I'd estimate the roundtrip to be only 4 miles (or less) and about 1,000 feet of gain. Less than guidebooks say. Great first objective of a 3 peak/2 canyon weekend. | ||
