This is the 8781-ft crag...

This is the 8781-ft crag immediately west of Rock Creek Butte that is known as "Spirit Rock." It has some nice short two-pitch walls on it (see this picture). Mid-June 2002.

Spirit Rock

I've never heard of a name for this prominence. What is your source for the name Spirit Rock?

I don't remember the source. I'll have to think on it. I know I didn't make up the name so it must have come from somewhere. The photo has been up for six years but it's been in existence as a scanned image since 2003, and like the caption says, the photo was taken in 2002. So at some point along the line the Spirit Rock name was conveyed to me (either verbally or textually).
