Snow makes all the difference

My wife and I traveled to Utah to visit Arches National Park about ten years ago. The first day we got to Moab we had a snowstorm, and we heard there were two more storms on the way. Out of time to wait for several days, we decided to head back to California. In December of 2008, however, the luck was on our side and we made it to Moab the day after the road was opened following a big snowstorm. The three days we went into Arches National Park were some of the best and scenic days we have spent anywhere. The temperatures hovered between 6 degrees night time, and 16 degrees for days. Being Californians, it felt brutally cold, but the experience became very memorable.

Love Moab in the Winter!

wow, Getting up to Delicate Arch in time for the sunrise must have been a little scary.

Re: Love Moab in the Winter!

Hi John, Well it didn't get scary till near the top where the trail is no more than a rocky ledge covered by solid ice. But,
a little hard, absolutely, since we had to get strted in the dark in 8 degee temps. The trail wasn't too bad, although icy,
but the rock slabs were for the most part clear. The weather, however, was on our side.
Thanks for dropping by John,
Marc
