Tickling The Piano Keys of Time ?

Tickling The Piano Keys of Time ?

No, not THAT Grand Piano, THIS Grand Piano !!! A thundering boom resonated and a great reddish-brown column of dust billowed skyward. A haze thick enough to blot out the sun filled the sky. It was the late 1880s when the Devil's Kitchen sinkhole formed, opening a cavernous void in the earth extending 50' downward and more than 100' across. Only a few dozen residents living in the area witnessed the creation of central Arizona's largest sinkhole. The large slab of rock (seen here) is called The Grand Piano. Curiously, a grand piano weighs 490 kilos, or 1,080 pounds. I'm guessing this one weighs slightly more. Rising (in the background) is the Sphinx a.k.a. Morning Glory Spire. November 19, 2009

Re: WOW!

Frohe Festtage, Gert!

Yes, it does (indeed) look like it was cut with
a laser from an unidentified flying object.

However, most of the local folks support the
theory that as the subterranean (limestone
layer) was dissolved by water, the ground
suddenly collapsed upon itself, resulting in
the end product of DEVIL'S KITCHEN.
