I don't know about Sherman. Is it in the Golden Trout Wilderness? I seem to remember some road that goes over in that area. What can you tell me about it?
It's south of Golden Trout - basically snakes its way between the South Sierra Wilderness and Domeland Wilderness. The road goes west from Pearsonville up to Kennedy Meadows then past Blackrock and up and over the crest and down to the Kern River. (From there you can either drive down the Kern, or go over the Great Western Divide via Hwy 190, or Parker Pass via M-56.) Any way you go after Sherman Pass it's definitely a viable auto route over the range - it's paved and I think prettier than Walker Pass. Leads to a lot of great trailheads as well.
