upper portion was very loose and lacked sufficient ice as shown. here is poorboy bustin out the last pitch in the couloir. photo taken 9/04/05.

Dry!

That upper couloir is a lot drier than I would have expected with such a heavy snow year. Surprising!!

we were surprised too. still exciting climbing though. of the nine pitches (including summit pitch) six and a half were all ice with only minor amounts of moderate mixed climbing here and there.

Which Couloir?

I climbed the right couloir on Labor Day 1999, but that was over 20 years ago and it was pretty fat with snow and ice nearly all the way to the top. Looks like this could be the right one, but can't tell.
