Urus Oeste

Urus Oeste

The small Urus chain has three summits: Urus Oeste, Urus Central and Urus Este. At 5420m, The latter is the lowest, and climbed often as an accllimatization peak. At 5495m, Central is the main summit, but it is rarely climbed. We couldn't find any information about the normal route. All that people could tell us was that Central wasn't easy to climb. We tried to anyway, but failed. We had fun doing it though, and it became a very memorable climb. At 5450m, Oeste is also rarely climbed. I can only guess why that is. From the looks of it, I think it's not difficult from the other side, that is, from the saddle with Central. Perhaps people prefer Este because getting to that saddle at the base of Oeste would already take quite a while. By that time, you could already be on top of Este. 26 July 2011.
