My final county highpoint in Nevada was Mt. Grant, 11,280 footer near the town of Hawthorne. It was a 14-15 mile hike with close to 5000 feet of elevation gain. This is looking northerly and Walker Lake can be seen on the right. There was no benchmark up here but we did find a register, hidden away in plain sight. 6-22-08

Sorry for my late

response; I was still basking in the limelight of my photo-of-the-week. (In fact, I tried on a new hat yesterday, and my head was way too BIG!) :))

I remember driving past Walker Lake in 1989!
Nice shot of another of those neat out-of-
the-way summits, Dean!! What a view!!!

Re: Sorry for my late

And you have a right to enjoy the moment (that lasts a week) Congrat's once again. Here's a shot of Mt. Grant from the east side. I'll be writing up a trip report on this one as soon as I can get the time. It was great to have Dennis along with me as he had done this one three years earlier when he completed the Nevada county highpoints. Thanks Larry.
