View towards Kvarner bay area of North Adriatic sea from Velike Brisnice - Rossijevo Skloniste route which takes you from the coast to the heart of Rozanski Kukovi group. This is without doubt toughest and because of that most unpopular of approaches. It lasts 5-6h, but scenery along the way is fantastic. It changes from rock predominant first step of Velebit from whose slopes great views spread to soft meadows and deep beech and spruce forests in the upper half of the route. Left bare island is Goli Otok (227m). Behind it is smaller Grgur (225m). Right is bare Prvic (354m) and Krk (568m). On the left behind Grgur is Cres (650m) island while in the middle, far on the horizon, is Ucka (1394m) mountain. Photo: Aleksandar Gospic
