When you get to the Skamania County Highpoint you'll probably hear what sounds like water flowing like that of a rill. But it's not water at all. It's the nearly constant rockfall of pumice--mostly of the small variety--from the severely undercut ridge. This (north) side of the ridge rises steeply above the Pinnacle Glacier. The entire ridge in this area is rapidly eroding. Note the icicles. June 4, 2005.
