I'm currently editing the 'Courthouse' page.
I've only heard of two routes, one on the
north called "Justice of The Peace," and one
on the east called "A Day In Court."

Voted 10/10 | LOL! I am very glad you answered! I live only 2 miles from Courthouse and I don't do direct aid climbing so the summit may never feel my foot fall!

I'm still trying to determine which "bowl"
is popular for Class 4 climbing.
I discovered a bowl on the east side of Courthouse as viewed from Spaceship Rock,
but the last 100' looks really 'knarly.'

I only live 18 miles from Courthouse, and I
don't know the difference between a "piton"
and a baton used by police officers.

Maybe I have a decent pic - it's along the
edge of Courthouse Butte, to the north along
the loop trail when you reach the "spring-fed" wash before turning north to
enter into the wilderness.
It "blends in" with the southeast corner of
Courthouse, but the top 100' is detached from
the main body of Courthouse Butte.
I need to return (during cooler weather) with
my zoom camera.

Hasn't voted | The route up the south bowl is the easiest way to summit. It's a poorly protected 5.6 route. All those who attempt this route will have an opportunity to visit some pristine ruins that have many artifacts that should be left alone. The pottery and so forth is not yours to take. It is for all to enjoy. Respect what is sacred and don't steal it. I love Sedona and I've seen just how fast people take things for themselves, being reluctant to share route beta should be understandable if you in fact love Sedona and it's ancient history as well. | | Posted Sep 17, 2009 3:10 am |

two years, and was under the impression the
"Mountain/Rock" pages were supposed to have
popular routes listed on them.
Do I have your permission to attach your
comment (above) to the 'Courthouse Butte'
page ???
And, being that the FS has a multi-million
dollar "Visitor Contact Center" up & running
along Hwy 179 a short distance from
Courthouse Butte, perhaps somebody should
notify THEM regarding the route conditions
and what to watch out for ???? ??
Either that, or we can DELETE the Courthouse
Butte page all together ???
IMHO, somebody needs to draw a line in the
sand. Information is very helpful to the
majority of folks using this Site.
