A view northeastward from the...
A view northeastward from the West Summit. The Middle Summit is at left; the Main Summit at right. Between these on the horizon is Forbidden Peak, while at far right in the distance is Mt. Buckner. I had intended to climb up the south side of the Middle Summit on the way by but it looked difficult from below. Plus, the snowfield was steep getting up to it. You can see my tracks cutting acoss the snow (the rest of my companions went back via the north side of the Middle Summit, i.e., this was a solo diversion). Later, I could see that the easiest way up the Middle Summit was probably via the west side (the side with the hanging snow patches). June 8, 2003.
