The route up Cadet Peak from Goat Lake (as gleaned from Fred Beckey's
Cascade Alpine Guide). At the Foggy Mine turn right. There is a break in the cliffs that allows access to the snowfields above. Incidentally, the route you're taking was the same as used by miners in the late 19th Century. They would make regular trips from Monte Cristo over Ida Pass and on to numerous mining claims at the head of Elliot Creek (i.e., in the basin pictured here).
