West Twin Peak with a nasty cornice break [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
West Twin Peak with a nasty cornice break
Our little group did the Triple on Tuesday, May 6th, two days after a WMC group had done it. We followed their boot tracks from the East Twin to the West Twin. On the return from the West Twin two of us had hiked past the cornice in question, but it gave way when numbers three and four approached it. We were fortunate that Dave and Robert reacted quickly and avoided a possible deadly drop down a perilous slope. "The mountain doesn't care."

A great reminder of how very well established winter trails (boot packs/skin tracks alike) can still be deadly.
