| Crown Mountain from the Upper North Ridge | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Crown from south of Peak 5412 at the beginning of the descending traverse to the north glacier. The narrow gully splitting the north face is "The Cleft", a winter snow route.

Voted 10/10 | With so few ascents of this mountain over the years, I wonder just how many have used that gulley. I've enjoyed your write-up. | | Posted Nov 13, 2008 12:12 am |

To my knowledge the "Cleft" has only been done once. It looked hard to me but I know one of the first ascencionists well and he assures me that, with full snow cover, it's no more than AI1. No more than 45° and only one tool necessary. | | Posted Nov 13, 2008 11:57 am |
