Forests of Mid Velebit

View from the Kita (1573m) towards SE where large undulating area of peaks, funnel shaped depressions and forests spreads. This is last completely untouched area of Mid Velebit. There are no marked paths or forest roads here. Now criminal organization called Hrvatske Sume (Croatian Forests) wants to enter here and cut the forest which is unacceptable and completely idiotic. But the men with chain-saw don’t see any purpose in untouched nature, like those idiots in forests of Amazona. Hopefully this can be stopped. Photo: Aleksandar Gospic

Hrvatske Sume - still a threat?

just read your info that great forests near Stirovaca are endangered by logging... Is this still a threat? I was there a few years ago and was really amazed by the size of this wild area...
