Mount St. Helens erupted at 8:32 on Sunday morning, May 18, 1980. I saw it in person 21 years later when I visited the state of Washington on May 20, 2001.

I saw

the video of its explosion over and over, many times, and I find it to be the most impressive video of an eruption made so far...

Thank you for your comment. I also watched the video of the eruption while I was at Mount St Helens Visitor Center. It was also interesting to see how the plants are slowly coming back to life and animals return. I did however see a very large devastation of the area around the volcano filled with fallen trees while hiking there.
