The Northern part of Upper Angara Range is less rugged and the treeline-to-treeline distance are shorter, providing for easier ski backpacking.
Note that a few green Siberian pines are interspersed with neddle-less larches even near the treeline. Being able to tell the difference between a (dead) pine and a (live dormant) larch is absolutely crucial when one's looking for firewood - and sometimes it isn't a trivial task.
