Hike with Wife & Dogs  Sucess!

Hiked with wife and two dogs. Thought I might have to carry the dogs back down after they decided they had enough and laid down and refused to take another step. After a good rest, they were OK though. Need to get them in better shape!!!

i don't really remember the hike...should I be signing the climbers log.....ha ha

I always confuse Mt. Williamson with Mt. Waterman?!?. I've hiked one of these mountains several times....I think it was Mt. Waterman...but wait I'm only 28 should I be getting Alzheimer's already...lol. Went snowshoeing with my significant other and met some couple up at the top. Snowshoeing in the warm SoCal sun is always nice!

Two Peaks  Sucess!

Grabbed Twin Peaks and Waterman today. Warm, and not much breeze, but an early start helped make it a bit better. Nice views in this part of the range.

Dayhike  Sucess!

From the base of the chairlift/highway 2, up the N slope/ridge on some old disused road. Got faked out by the N summit, so traversed over to the S summit, climbed all the boulders vying for the high spot. Passed on Twin Peaks this time.

Mount Waterman ski descent  Sucess!

The road leading to Mt. Waterman old ski resort is closed about 3 miles west. It was a sunny cool winter day in Pasadena. After finishing some work at JPL I drove straight up in the mountains. Preparing the gear and packing did not take that long, but I left parking lot around 3:30 pm. The snowboarders whom I met on the way up were quite surprised to see me going up that late in a day. Well, the hike was pleasant and I reached the summit around 4:40 pm. Watching the sunset over the San Gabriel mountains covered in a snow was quite extraordinary. The snow here does not fall that often, but when it does happen, you have to see it and experience in full. I start my descent from the icy top. The snow quality was not that great, until I reached a narrow coulor full of rocks. With some route finding I skied down the steep slope and was near my car in now time. Definitely do it right after the California rain. If you wait too long, the snow becomes crusty. Remember, it is only 6000 ft at the bottom of the mountain.

Did Waterman with Bruno and his fiancee as a warmup for San Gorgonio the next day. Nice short hike with great view on a rock outcropping to the south. Be sure to check out the cool rock outcroppings to the east.

Very easy - great winter climb  Sucess!

Climbed many times over the course of a few years. Usually from Waterman Gap, many times I would climb in the winter - awesome ski down the closed resort slopes as long as it isn't too icy, as is usually the case.

Easy One  Sucess!

Climbed this one many times. The trail from Buckhorn is shorter and more popular than the one from lower down HWY 2. Interesting rocks to climb on the flat, broad, summit.
