Approach
From the Silver Lake Ranger District office, travel .5 miles east on HWY 31 turning South onto County Road 4-12 (which becomes Road 28). Take 28 for 9 miles where you will find a sign and a small parking area on the east side of the road. The trailhead is marked by a sign.
Route Description
Follow the blue diamonds on the trees that lead you up moderate slope for the first 2 miles and then starts switchbacking up a continually steepening section for the next 2 miles to the top.
Essential Gear
There is no technical equipment needed for this hike. Snowshoes or skis with skins are a must in the winter. No need to carry the extra weight of a tent if you are renting the lookout. Bring extra food as severe weather conditions may delay your departure.
