the real start of the elevation gain: beginning the mindless slog up Shelly Mountain (Antelope Pass route). The two-tracks in this basin do not apparently originate from an official (mapped) USFS road. The ruts fade a short distance behind the photographer, where it becomes steeper and more talus in character.
