Glad for a write up on this mountain!( THANKS) This was my very first wind river climb,and the beginning of a love affair with these wild mountains.I Headed straight up thru the trees from green river lake. When I reached near the summit, there were 6 or 8 bighorn rams there to greet me! I don't know if they have ever seen a human before, because they walked within 30 feet of me! (what a sight)
This sounds like a wonderful time! I ended up just shy of the summit in 1977 and for thirty years I yearned to return... I've always wanted to spend more time in the Wind Rivers. As you say it is a beautiful place.
