Will Lou make it across? | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Well, yes. He did every time. I took maybe 5 of these pics which means he jumped this crevasse at least 5 times. This shot is a scan from a slide photo, Kodakcrome ASA 25 film. (Lou is Lou Whitaker)
Another shot of Lou is HERE. In fact, this view is my favorite angle. Ira posted one of his pics from the crevasse jumping photo shoot in this book, "An Ice Axe, a Camera, and a Jar of Peanut Butter: A Photographer's Autobiography" The book is still available at Amazon. Hasn't voted | Indeed, that is a good book. He and his brother Jim are twin and hard to tell apart.
Jim came up to camp muir while our group was there and talked about his Everest climb, a great evening. | | Posted Apr 14, 2009 11:07 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I can't believe that he wanted to repeat it just for a photo... It looks like a pretty big jump. | | Posted Jun 28, 2009 7:49 am |

Hasn't voted | Hi, thanks for the comment and yes, he really did that jump 5 times. Like a broad jumper in a way but the lower lip was enough lower that he made it effortlessly. It was a great experience for me to be there and witness that
effort on his part. | | Posted Jun 28, 2009 11:01 am |
